Database Application Developer

The role holder works under the management of the Information Services Manager on the design, implementation and integration of administrative IT systems into the Department’s administrative processes, primarily through the provision of Windows-based desktop interfaces and applications. The role holder plays a vital part in the IT Services Division's support of the Department's administrative processes.

The large size and wide geographical distribution of the Department make computer-based information services particularly important. The complex nature of the administration is also unusual amongst Departments e.g. aspects of purchasing and course administration need to be handled within the Department that elsewhere would be handled by the University's central administrative systems.

The role holder ascertains the requirements for new interfaces and designing and developing them, and also extends and enhances existing interfaces. The role holder is also responsible for delivering new interfaces to administrative staff and training them in their use.
