This moonbase is designed to accommodate up to 16 people for extended periods of time in a self-sufficient living and working environment. Each technical element includes independently redundant sub-systems to provide time for repair or help from earth in the event of a failure. The majority of building materials are 3D printed using a lunar geopolymer combined with the settlers’ urine. The building is partially buried to facilitate daily heat moderation. The interior is designed around a flexible architecture with high ceilings and large open spaces to reduce long term claustrophobia. All of the basic human requirements are catered for.
