'The coast of Peru from the Space Shuttle Discovery'

This is perhaps my favourite "out-of-the-window" shot... I took it through one of Discovery's aft windows. It's a shot of the coast of Peru. It includes the famous Nazca lines, though they're too small to be seen here.

Graduated: 1982.
Biog: Engineering graduate Nicholas Patrick took his first flight as a NASA astronaut on the shuttle Discovery in December 2006, having made it through the rigorous selection process, to become one of the 321 astronauts selected by NASA. He was only the fourth Briton to go into space . After graduating Patrick worked as an engineer, a flight instructor, a programmer for a robotic company and a human-factors engineer. He has logged over 1,900 hours as a pilot in more than 20 types of craft, and trained as an astronaut since 1998.
