Winning Entry 2008

"Enchanted" by Amy Hewer

No one could have made a movie mocking Disney movies without appearing bitter, except for Disney. Enchanted does it so well, with subtle references to Disney's other movies. It is a fun, frivolous story that is complimented by a fantastic score and musical numbers from accomplished composer Alan Menken.

Winning Entry 2007

"Kind Hearts and Coronets" by Isabel Taylor

Civilised, soft-spoken, coolly remorseless Louis avenges the disinheritance of his aristocratic mother, imaginatively murdering the eight who stand in his ways of the Dukedom. As it happens, they are all played by Alec Guinness. A quintessentially English black comedy: manners, murder and aristocracy, thrilling in style, wit, elegant plotting and knowing camp.

Winning Entry 2006

"Rififi" by Rudi Elliot-Lockhart

No one can look as cool as washed-up ex-con Tony le Stephanois (Jean Servais), coaxed out of retirement for one last job in this perfect film noir. Such is Tony's weary charm and strong code of honour, it ached to see the perfect heist fall apart after one tiny mistake.
