The BLCS annual meeting and AGM is designed to be a relaxed technical forum, with invited speakers, for young scientists and research students to present their new ideas.
Oral presentations and posters are requested on any topic related to the research and development of liquid crystals and liquid crystal polymers. This includes areas such as new liquid crystal materials, electrically and optically induced effects, measurement and characterisation techniques, synthesis, physical and optical properties and applications.
The Sturgeon Memorial Lecture will be given by
Professor I-C Khoo from Pennsylvania State University on the topic of:Photorefractivity in liquid crystal materials.
The conference is being chaired by Professor Bill Crossland, head of
the Photonics and Sensors Group of the Cambridge University Engineering Department.Included in the conference will be over 20 oral presentations and a large poster session running throughout the conference. The following invited speakers will also be presenting as part of the technical programme.
There will also be the presentations of the GW Gray medals for both 2002 and 2003.
Technical submissions should be in the form of a single page, A4 camera ready summary of the work to be presented. This should be sent by post, along with the registration and payment before February 28th 2003.
Electronic submissions of the 1 page summary will be accepted as long as registration has also been completed. Please email electronic submissions to
BLCS 2003 admin team before February 28th 2003. If possible please send submissions in the Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) file format.
