'Nano flower'
3-dimensional Si composite nanostructure. The image was taken with a scanning electron microscope and is colour modified using the colour balance function in Adobe Photoshop. The material is both amorphous and crystalline in nature with dimensions less than 2 mm.

'Closed circuit'
A 'macro' shot of the circuit board used during the IDP. I think the out of focus wire in the foreground adds a dimension to the picture giving a feeling of depth.

'Particle visualisation of flow into a 1/20 scale model of a modern jet engine'
This set up is used to investigate the behaviour of air-flow into a scale model of the nacelle and fan of a modern turbofan jet engine. The flow into the nacelle is under a distorted flow condition which is achieved by way of crosswinds and ground effect. A laser sheet is used to track the flow of smoke which is seeded upstream of the inlet. A better understanding of the behaviour of such flows is then readily available.
